My wife Donna hosts a podcast on personal growth and transformation, where she recently interviewed Drew Brophy, a mutual friend and fellow artist. In 2020, Drew died from covid and was resuscitated. In the interview he shared that when on the other side, he experienced a deep unconditional love and a clear sense of his own divinity, wisdom and power. Donna asked why he thought we are born forgetting this, and Drew’s reply was that the journey of being human is an intentional ‘long remembering’ of our true nature. In my metaphorical illustration of this idea, the elephant and boat represent that slow journey back to this awareness, forgotten upon our births. The house, closed and forgotten, symbolizes us in our limited human forms – with the awareness of our true brilliance awaiting to be awakened and reclaimed.
