On Sunday morning September 21st, a single cow in a corner of the 300 acre Southern Colorado ranch of Ned Thompson slowly lifted off the ground into a shaft of misty light. With the low hum of what sounded like a thousand honey bees, several more beams appeared from an unknown source in the sky. Within seconds, 12 more cows had begun their slow ascent. All told, 87 head were to leave the planet that day. Thompson spent several months trying to unravel the mystery of who stole nearly half of his herd. Never to discover, or consider, that they had simply reached enlightenment.
